Clients presenting with internally rotated shoulders,
sunken chest, and head forward posture usually have an armored
shallow breathing pattern. Most describe it as being restricted
or stuck physically and emotionally, not being able to open
up and breathe deeply. Restrictions in the rib cage expansion
or contraction is also observed in body evaluation prior to
bodywork. Treatment consists of opening up the diaphragmatic
arch by releasing restrictions in the abdominal musculature
and along the diaphragmatic arch. In addition to releasing
the fascia and musculature that keep the shoulders in internal
rotation, the superficial fascia over the rib heads and sternum
is also released. Most clients report a positive and in some
cases extraordinary physical and emotional change.
