WHAT IT IS
Myofascial Release (MFR) is a type of soft tissue therapya
refined, sustained stretch that addresses fasciathe
tough connective fibro elastic tissue that covers all our
muscles, bones, nerves, and blood vessels including all our
internal organs. Fascia runs throughout our bodies, spreading
like a three dimensional web from head to foot. MFR is a hands-on
treatment that evaluates and cares for the whole body structure.
This safe and gentle treatment has consistently removed restrictions
that prevent free movement, restored motion, and relieved
and eliminated soft tissue pain.

WHY IT WORKS
Healthy fascia is relaxed and soft. It stretches and moves
freely with a plastic fluidity without restriction. However,
physical trauma such as a fall, auto accident, repetitive
motion injury, or poor posture over a period of time, can
produce a dysfunctional fascial system with limited motion
and pain. Our fascia becomes tight and stiff and oftentimes
a source of tension to the body. Because our fascial system
is interconnected, tension in one part of the body, over time,
can spread to other areas. Gentle MFR stretching techniques
produces heat and increased blood flow, which releases tension
from the fibrous bands of connecting tissue and removes restrictions
or blockages in the fascia. MFR treatment allows the dysfunctional
fascia to return to its position of balance.

HOW IT WORKS
The MFR process changes the structure by heating the fascia;
it becomes soft, elongated, and realigned. Body balance is
restored by freeing disruptions of the fascial network and
relieving tension on bones, muscles, joints, and nerves by
moving slowly through layers of fascia from superficial to
deep. The MFR therapist works with clients not on them. Utilizing
skilled touch with presence, they receive direction and guidance
for treatment from the clients body, and follow its
lead. The client is passive and allows his or her body to
move wherever it wants to go.

PROSPECTS FOR MFR
Clients who have suffered trauma, acute and chronic pain,
emotional stress, inflammation, scar tissue, limited range
of motion, and poor posture usually have fascial restrictions
and benefit from the work. In addition neurological dysfunction,
scoliosis, menstrual and pelvic pain, headaches, TMJ pain,
fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue syndrome, are a few other
problems that have been treated successfully with MFR.
My goal is to eliminate my clients fascial
restrictions and hopefully restore their fluid motion through
its full range, and relieve or eliminate their pain.
